YOKKAICHI C0031

KINKI BANKO YAKI

This is semi-porcelain made by "Rigetsu Kiln" in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture.

Using clay with a high iron content, it is fired at high temperatures with a reducing flame to create a deep reddish bean color (purple clay). (Purple clay vessels are said to enhance the flavor of tea in particular.)
