It is said that bronze (an alloy of copper and tin) and ironware began to be used in Japan during the Yayoi period, but later, gold, silver, copper, and even titanium, aluminum, stainless steel, which began to be mass-produced in the Showa period, also came to be used as materials for tableware.
Famous metalware in Japan include Tsubame-Sanjo hammered copperware, Iwate’s Nambu ironware, Toyama’s Takaoka copperware, Osaka’s Naniwa tinware, and Tokyo silverware.
