Z015 NAMIE
NAMIE TOHOKU OBORISOMA YAKI
This pottery was made at Suetokugama in Namie Town, Futaba County, Fukushima Prefecture (which was later relocated to Koriyama City after the disaster). The surface is decorated with a picture of a running horse, and the inside has cracks that appear due to the difference in shrinkage rate between the material and the glaze.
Sue Tomiji
A representative Soma ware potter, he demonstrated his skills to the Emperor and Empress when they visited Fukushima. After the Great East Japan Earthquake, he moved from Namie Town on the Pacific coast of Fukushima Prefecture to Koriyama.
